minimap Privacy Policy
Map a floor with your iPhone or iPad with LiDAR, then set up an iPhone or iPad as a camera, and see a real-time 3D map of your space. It runs on your devices, your Apple ID, and your Wi-Fi, and captures video and depth only – never audio. The short version: your space stays yours. Your subscription status and any support email you send are the only things that reach us – never your camera, your maps, or the people minimap shows you.
What reaches us
The only things that ever leave your devices and reach us or a service provider:
- Your subscription status, through our payments helper (RevenueCat), tied to a random app ID – not your name, email, or card.
- Any email you send us for support.
- Crash reports, and only if you turned those on in iOS – Apple delivers them without your identity attached.
What stays with you
Everything else never reaches us:
- Your camera builds the live map on your device. The video isn't saved or uploaded.
- Your room maps are stored encrypted in your own iCloud, with keys only your devices hold. We keep no copy and can't open them.
- The live 3D figures are made on the device doing the watching and sent only to your other devices, encrypted. They're shapes, not photos, and they never come to us.
- The names you type for cameras and rooms are encrypted in your iCloud, readable only on your devices.
You control all of it. You can delete it anytime in the app. Because we keep no copy, there's nothing for us to hand to anyone, and nothing for us to delete on our end.
Location
minimap can use your location to check the compass so your map lines up – that's its only use. It's optional, the app works without it, and your location never leaves your device.
We don't identify anyone
minimap doesn't use face recognition and doesn't try to figure out who anyone is. It builds no face, fingerprint, or other identifying profile of any person. The 3D figures exist only to show movement on your map.
We don't sell your data, and we don't track you
No ads. No trackers. No third-party analytics. We don't sell, rent, or share your data, and we don't build a profile of you. There's nothing to sell – minimap is built to not collect it.
Higher tiers
Some features may come to paid tiers. They follow the same rule – your data stays yours:
- Alerts let Apple notify you when something happens on one of your cameras.
- Watching from away connects your own devices to each other. If a direct link isn't possible, your encrypted data may be relayed by an intermediary that can't read it – and it still never reaches us.
- Saved clips, if minimap ever offers them, are 3D replays kept encrypted in your own iCloud that only you can open. We never receive or see them.
- Inviting someone, if minimap ever offers it, shares only with the accounts you choose, encrypted between your devices and theirs. We're not part of it.
Adults
minimap is for adults and isn't meant for children. We don't knowingly collect anything from anyone, including kids, because we're built to not collect.
Security
Your home data is encrypted and lives on your devices and in your iCloud, not on a minimap server. We never hold it, so there's no central store of it for anyone to break into.
